there are tvs withe 1920×1080 resolution you know that will be the norm soon . that is the best resolution so far. it will display 1080p , and 1080i with all the detail, as for you question . the 1024×1080 is better it has more pixels and can display more detail. any one with more pixles can display more of the detail in a hd picture than one with less pixels .
and to clear somethings up. 1080i and 720p are close in quality on an 720p tv , thats one with 1366×768 or around there. the 1080i has more detail but the tv has to scale it to show on the tv . 1080i is in fact every other line ( thats odds then evens) every 60th of a second and 720p is everyline every 30th of a second. and to humans the interlacing or i every 60th of a second is to fast for us to notice any anything but a nice picture. so go with the 1024×1080 that will show more detail in 1080i. but it cant show 1080p . and they say you cant even tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p on screens smaller that 55 inches
oh and let me guess its a hitachi. they are the only ones that make that resolution. and to me its great. hitachi is a great company and they make great plasmas go with that
